Golden Oak is the only neighbourhood Disney has ever allowed inside the actual boundary of Walt Disney World Resort, which tells you everything about the kind of buyer this listing was fishing for. This particular effort sits deep in the Carolwood enclave on a private 0.79-acre lot, coming in at nearly 11,000 square feet, because apparently a mere 10,000 wasn’t going to say what needed saying. Seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, four garages — three on lifts, stacking up to seven cars — and a fully detached apartment over the garage, presumably so the in-laws can be theming-adjacent without being theming-immediate.
The headline act is the home theatre, which is not ‘Millennium Falcon-inspired’ so much as an actual, load-bearing recreation of the Millennium Falcon — riveted panelling, a suspended cockpit projector pod, a hand-painted starfield ceiling, a lit cantina bar, and a life-size Chewbacca standing sentry over what we assume is an extremely serious snack drawer. Disney’s own designers reportedly had a hand in this house, and once you’ve seen the Falcon room, that claim starts to feel less like marketing copy and more like a confession. Down the hall, in the quieter register, there’s a stained-glass gallery and an exact replica of the fireplace from Cinderella’s Castle apartment, because when the bar is set at ‘entire spaceship,’ a fireplace is basically a rest stop.
The rooms doing the actual living are, credit where due, extremely nice and only moderately unhinged by comparison — a two-storey great room with a built-in saltwater aquarium instead of a normal TV unit, a chef’s kitchen under a stone hood ornate enough to have its own listing agent, a wine room behind a glowing onyx wall, and a primary suite with two separate gas fireplaces, which feels less like a design choice and more like the house daring you to ask why. Outside, the grotto pool, rock waterfall, multiple fire pits and full summer kitchen would be the star of any other listing on this site. Here, they’re the supporting cast to a wood-fired pizza oven built to look exactly like Toothless.
It’s since sold, and whatever it went for, the number that actually matters is how many Disney World annual passes you could buy instead — and how comprehensively this house makes that question irrelevant, because you’d never need to leave the property again. Disney Adults, Disnerds, Disneyphiles, Park Rats: pick your preferred slur, affectionately, and know that somewhere in Golden Oak, someone out-committed all of you at once. Happiest house on earth? We’re not fighting the theming department on this one. They have a Chewbacca. We have opinions. They win.
